Who We Are
An upcoming, sustainable, tech-enabled community palliative care initiative
Tumaini is being established in Dagoretti South, Nairobi, to respond to the growing need for continuous, dignified palliative care for patients with life-limiting illnesses — especially in under-served communities.
Tumaini means Hope.
Our work is being designed to restore dignity, comfort, and continuity of care for patients, families, and caregivers.

Current Status
Tumaini is currently in its foundational and partnership-building phase.
Clinical services will be introduced in phases following registration, site setup, staffing, and regulatory alignment.
What We Are Working Towards
Tumaini is being designed as an integrated care ecosystem that will combine:
- Inpatient and outpatient hospice care
- Home-based community outreach
- Psychosocial and caregiver support
- Pediatric continuity of education
- Training and digital health innovation
The Challenge
Across Kenya, many patients lose continuity of care once they leave hospital. Families are left to manage pain, symptoms, and emotional needs with limited support.
- Preventable pain crises
- Caregiver burnout
- Interrupted education for hospitalized children
- Repeated hospital admissions
Tumaini is being developed to bridge this gap through a structured, community-based, and tech-enabled palliative care model.
